These works are created using a mixed media technique that includes watercolor and pastel. I have developed a painting-like style which lends itself very well to capturing a likeness. I can create a piece of art suitable for framing, just for you.

PORTRAIT POINTS

- Although these portraits are technically 'drawings' they require a few days to create. The detail and color useage is equivilent to painting.

- Price will depend on size and detail. It generally starts at $150.00 for a standard 8 x 10 head and shoulders portrait. For mutiple figures the actual size of the work would have to be larger in order to render the same level of detail.

- I think that its important to remember that even though I work with photographs, the final drawing will be very different. Composition, use of color and application of style are of equal importance in creating a work. The result is a creative interpretation that is more than the sum of its reference material.

- Working from photographs has advantages and disadvantages. For the most part, it is the most practical way of creating portraits these days. However, the process may require a number of photos to get the same impression of an individual, as one would get if they were available in person. Thats why I generally like to take the photos myself. But your own pictures may still make great material for portraits. If you have a photo you think you would like me to consider, I would be happy to consult with you on it.
